A MUM has told how living near a windfarm has completely devastated the lives of her family.
Jane Davis, husband Julian and 17-year-old daughter, Emily have been forced out of their home because they can’t get a full night’s sleep after being kept awake by the noise from eight wind turbines near their farmhouse, in Lincolnshire.
And Jane will describe her windfarm nightmare when she speaks at a public meeting later this month to discuss proposals to build a windfarm of nine turbines on Ballindalloch Muir less than a mile-and-a-half from Balfron.
The 51-year-old will tell how:
· her family suffered sleep deprivation because of the noise from the turbines a half-mile from her home;
· earlier this year they had to rent another house five miles away so they can get a proper sleep;
· her daughter’s education has suffered because of the problems caused by the windfarm;
· and how their £170,000 farmhouse home is now practically worthless because of the windfarm.
Jane has agreed to travel to Scotland to speak at the public meeting - organised by the Endrick Valley Action Group (EVAG) on Wednesday, November 28, at 7.30pm, in the Lecture Theatre of Balfron High School – and warn people of the effects of having a windfarm close to houses and schools.
EVAG has been campaigning against energy giant npower renewables’ plans to build nine giant 406-feet high wind turbines on Ballindalloch Muir claiming they are too close to local communities and schools, they will have a negative visual impact on the Stirlingshire countryside and there is growing medical evidence that the noise from wind turbines can cause health problems.
Jane said: “We have had to evacuate our home because of the noise of the wind turbines which has completely disrupted our lives. We just couldn’t get a proper sleep at night
“The noise was really bad at night and we were only getting three or four hours sleep. We couldn’t go on living with the sleep deprivation caused by the noise from the wind turbines. The symptoms of sleep deprivation are that you can’t perform even the simplest tasks the next day.
“The windfarm has devastated our lives and we have effectively lost everything. It was torture for us day after day, night after night. I use the word devastated and I don’t use it lightly.
“I can’t see us ever being able to move back into our home to live when these wind turbines are still there.”
Jane says her daughter Emily’s education has been badly affected by the disruption to her life caused by the windfarm.
Jane continued: “The disruption to Emily’s life trying to live with these wind turbines since they were built has meant she is not doing as well as expected at school. The wind turbines are the root cause.
“And our home no longer has a marketable value and we can’t live in our home.
“We didn’t protest or object to the windfarm at the time it was being proposed because we believed what the developer told us that there would not be any noise or disruption coming from the wind turbines.”
She added: “The message I have for the people of West Stirlingshire is that wind turbines have to be built in the right place and that is not anywhere near people’s homes or schools.
“If people don’t want to live the same nightmare we do with these wind turbines then they should protest and object to the Ballindalloch proposals now before it’s too late.”
EVAG chairman, Gordon Adams said: “Jane Davis is living witness to the way windfarms can destroy people’s lives.
“I would urge everyone to come along to our public meeting on November 28 and hear Jane tell her own harrowing story.”
