| Question: ‘Do wind turbines harm birds or wildlife?’ | Npower says: ‘Carefully sited turbines should pose no risk to birds or wildlife’.
| EVAG says: So that’s why it was headline news when the red kite was killed by a turbine at the Braes of Doune then?
Ballindalloch Muir is designated by Scottish Natural Heritage to be an area of sensitivity for birds.
There are many cases of protected and unprotected species of birds being killed by turbines. The blades appear to be turning slowly but are actually going in excess of 200+ miles per hour. Birds stand no chance.
Neither do bats. It isn’t known why, but bats are actually attracted, from outwith their normal areas of habitat, to the turbines and fly into the blades. Could it be the high pitched noise that npower say the turbines do not create?
Wildlife living in the forest at present will be displaced when it is hewn down.
